Classification and characteristics of feed motion servo systems for CNC machine tools
The feed motion servo system of CNC machine tools can be divided into open-loop system and closed-loop (semi closed-loop) system according to its control principle. In an open-loop system, without position and speed detection, the motor will drive the feed motion to the desired position based on electrical pulses. The open-loop system uses a stepper motor as the power source, and assumes that as long as a certain number of electrical pulses are input, the machine tool will have corresponding displacement. Due to the lack of detection components, the cost of constructing such a system is lower, but its disadvantage is that once errors occur, they will gradually accumulate. As mentioned earlier, open-loop systems must use stepper motors or electro-hydraulic pulse motors as power sources. Closed loop (semi closed loop) systems require closed-loop control, and from a control principle perspective, there is no difference between closed-loop and semi closed loop systems. In terms of system hardware composition, compared to open-loop systems, closed-loop (semi closed-loop) systems require the use of position detection components and comparators.
